Real Cannibalism

You’ve seen it in the movies – the thrill of flesh-hungry, blood-thirsty humans craving other humans. But this is not Twightlight. This is real life cannibalism.

Bruce Parry travels to West Papua to live with the Kombai people to learn about their eating habits. The Kombai people are known for cannibalism. The word Cannibalism came from Carib, a tribe in the West Indies known for cannibalism. However, it’s not as savage as the movies may have depicted it to be. Humans would eat other humans as a means of survival. Sometimes it was practiced to honor the deceased.

In very rare cases, as seen in the movie Hannibal, cannibalism is referred to as a mental disorder. Both Albert Fish and Jeffrey Dahmer suffered from mental disorders when engaged in cannibalism.
